SSE Cornwall is an initiative of a coalition of organisations who've come together to bring the SSE approach and methodology to the South-West. In the first instance, it has piloted in Penwith, and is now looking to expand Cornwall-wide. Initial investment is from the European Social Fund.
To learn more about SSE Cornwall and its development, please see the contact details at the bottom of the page. Or see the details below; SSE Cornwall is currently recruiting social entrepreneurs for its programme.
The Cornwall School for Social Entrepreneurs opened its doors to the first cohort in March 2009 – and celebrated its first graduation in February 2010.
The previous programme was based in Penwith, the very bottom part of the county. Check out the Cornwall students page for more details of the fantastic projects and business ideas. Or read the first Cornwall SSE Fellows booklet.
However, it was always our intention to roll the programme out countywide and so, with this in mind, our next recruitment is now starting in earnest. Click here to see the recruitment leaflet (pdf) for full details
The Cornwall programme consists of the following components:
• Study days (including expert and witness sessions; see photo above)
• Tutorials
• Action Learning
• Project Visits
• Residential
The programme runs over a 9 month period, excluding school holidays, for 1 day each week.
Recruitment for the programme is competitive and places are not guaranteed. However, we are not looking for the traditional ‘bits of paper’ required to gain entry onto regular courses or programmes. Cornwall SSE is looking for people who have the drive, commitment and passion to see their ideas make a difference, take calculated risks and push the boundaries, and who are prepared to work extremely hard within a framework to realise their dreams and ambitions.
